Sharon Taylor of Viva Tiling
1Thank you for taking the time to talk to us today Sharon. Can you tell us how you became a tiler?
I have a creative working background working in the packaging design industry for 20 odd years before redundancy. I was a graphic designer and mock up artist producing highly finished hand made mock ups, so had an eye for detail which helped with installing mosaics.
I originally learnt to tile doing a 4 week course and the training centre also did a Bisazza mosaic course. I did that course too and found I had a knack for it and loved it.
2And why did you get into specialising in mosaics?
I gradually started to specialise in mosaics after my tile course and did the advanced Bisazza course in Italy. I eventually stopped doing large formats which as I wasn't enjoying it.
I've gradually built a reputation for installing mosaics and particularly for doing steam rooms.
3Do you use any other tiles or have any other speciliast areas?
I also work with Victorian geometric tiles and hand made tiles that need some TLC to install. I love doing the complicated installs with lots of curves ... it's the challenge
